Meteonorm Forecast provides worldwide solar and weather forecasts for up to 8 days in advance (+8 days). The key benefit is accurate PV production forecasting to optimize self-consumption, battery storage, grid feed-in, and direct marketing.

What is the difference between Forecast Basic and Forecast Precision?

  • Forecast Basic: Provides hourly forecasts based on a global numerical weather prediction model. It is updated 4x daily and costs 1 token per request. Ideal for standard applications.
  • Forecast Precision: Combines satellite-based nowcasting, multiple numerical weather prediction models, and statistical post-processing. It is updated every 15 minutes and costs 5 tokens per request.

Which parameters and temporal resolutions does Meteonorm Forecast offer?

In addition to standard weather variables (temperature, precipitation, wind speed, pressure, cloud cover), Meteonorm directly calculates expected solar radiation on tilted surfaces (GTI, DTI) and specific PV power output considering tilt angle, orientation, and horizon shading (horizon derived from Copernicus GLO-30).

How does billing work for Meteonorm Forecast?

For the Meteonorm API, billing is flexible via a token system with different prices depending on the product:
  • Forecast Basic = 1 token per request
  • Forecast Precision = 5 tokens per request
Available options for sale are:
  • Bundles (One-time purchase): Starting at CHF 90 (2,000 tokens, i.e., 2,000 Forecast Basic or 400 Forecast Precision requests, valid for 4 years) for single projects.
  • Plans (Subscriptions): Starting at CHF 960/year (10,000 tokens/month, i.e., 10,000 Forecast Basic or 2,000 Forecast Precision requests per month) for regular requirements.

Are Meteonorm Forecast data available through the Meteonorm Web App?
